Toddler seriously hurt when train rams vehicle in Papar

A toddler was seriously hurt after a passenger train hit a four wheel drive vehicle in Kampung Mandahan, 23 km from Papar town, near here, this morning.

The one-year-old boy was sent to hospital for treatment.

However, the authorities had not revealed the identity of the boy and two other individuals in the vehicle.

Papar Fire and Rescue Station chief Superintendent Dunstan Peter said the train was heading to Beaufort from Papar but no explanation had been given on how the mishap occurred.

He said the station received a call on the incident at 9.22 am before sending four firemen who arrived at the scene 22 minutes later.
