Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai today asked Wee Choo Keong to explain his action in allegedly ordering the removal of AirAsia bunting from the 4th China International Tourism Expo 2016 in Beijing last week.
The Transport Minister said, Wee being Tourism Malaysia Chairman should support for more airlines to come into Malaysia, not otherwise.
"I think as a nation, we should promote tourism and we should promote airlines coming to Malaysia.
"It's uncalled for and I would like an explanation from him,” Liow said at a press conference after the launch of KLIA Metropolis, here Monday.
He was referring to a report which claimed Wee was mad to see AirAsia bunting placed alongside with other promotional materials in Tourism Malaysia’s booth.
Wee also reportedly ordered the bunting to be thrown away and said to have broken the bunting with is bare hands.
The matter was also brought up today by AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes who posted on his Facebook page, claiming that Wee had been 'tormenting' his company for years.
Fernandes also described Wee’s action at the expo as ‘over the top’.
