PETALING JAYA: Tourism Malaysia today launched the Tourism Recovery Plan 2022 and the second version of Cuti-Cuti Malaysia song in an effort to boost the country's domestic tourism sector in line with the Transition to Endemic Phase.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the plan was a continuation of the Economic Stimulus Package (PRE 1.0) and was one of the initiatives under the Tourism Industry Recovery Plan involving the distribution of incentives to Malaysians in the form of discounts, vouchers and rebates.
"It is hoped this initiative will restore confidence to travel, boost domestic tourism and maximise existing resources," she said in her speech at the launch here today.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Nancy said the target of the plan was to increase the mobility of Malaysians to travel and spend through various discounts on land, air and accommodation.
According to her, the giving of discounts, vouchers and rebates, beginning April 29 involved two clusters, namely Land Transport Cluster and Tourism Association Cluster.
The initiative will be expanded in stages involving three other clusters namely the Air Travel, Accommodation and Special Interest Tourism, which include scuba diving segments, homestay, shopping and theme parks, she said.
Nancy said this was to attract the public to continue booking transport tickets or tour packages at special discounted prices.
She added one of the initiatives offered to Malaysians through the plan was a discount of RM100 for a travel package purchase transaction worth RM200 and above from April 29 to October 31, 2022, for the travel period until December 31, 2022.
Each user or MyKad holder is eligible to redeem this discount once and the purchase must be made through Shopee Pay.
An estimated 14,925 consumers will receive this benefit with a target of selling a total holiday package worth RM2,985,000, Nancy said.
Under the Land Transport Cluster, Tourism Malaysia has entered into a strategic partnership with KLIA Ekspres and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) services.
Meanwhile, Nancy said the second version of the Cuti Cuti Malaysia song which was also launched today was in line with the increased promotion of the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia campaign by Tourism Malaysia.
Titled Menemui Semula (Meeting Again), the song which was sung by popular artist Aina Abdul, has an ethnic pop concept with a combination of world music, hip hop and electronic dance music.
Nancy also launched Tourism Malaysia's new digital brochures app, which is available on Google Play and App Store.
