Toyota makes airbag safety precautions

UMW Toyota Motor has issued a recall to Toyotas that are possibly affected by a defected airbag. By Jerrica Leong

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has undertaken a special service campaign to replace airbags of certain Toyota models that are possibly improperly manufactured front side passengers and driver front airbag inflators that could cause rupture or the airbag to deploy abnormally in a crash.

TMC wants to ensure the customers’ confidence and peace of mind therefor they have expanded their special service campaign to replace the airbag inflator module to address the issue. UMW Toyota Motor has received confirmation from TMC that there are 97,000 units of Camry, Corolla Altis, Vios, Yaris and RAV4 manufactured in the year 2001-2007 that will be involve in the Special Service Campaign in Malaysia.

UMW Toyota Motor will contact all affected customers for the special service campaign to carry out all necessary corrective measures. So if you own a Toyota between those times be sure to stay alert for a phone call. Those affected will receive a replacement with a newly manufactured one at no charge.

No other Toyota or Lexus models produced before 2001 and after the year 2007 are affected by the campaign.
