Trader fined RM10,000 under Price Control and Anti-profiteering Act

A telephone shop owner was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court here today for failing to comply with a direction made by an Assistant Price Controller to provide information and documents on his business
transaction as was requested.
Judge Madihah Harullah handed down the sentence on Wong Tze Wei, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Wong, 34, was charged with failing to comply with the direction issued by the Assistant Price Controller on June 23 last year requiring him to provide information and documents on sales and purchase invoices and receipts for the month of January 2015 within three days upon issue of the notice.
The notice was issued under Section 21(2) of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
Wong was charged with committing the offence at his shop, E Voice Technology, Oakland Industrial Park, Seremban 2, on June 29 last year.
The charge against Wong was made under Section 21 (5) of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, which provides a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, and for subsequent offence, a maximum fine of RM100,000 or imprisonment of not more than five years, if found guilty.
