Traffic flow to federal capital to increase in the evening

Traffic on several major expressways in the country is reported to be smooth and under control even though the number of vehicles heading to the federal capital has increased since 2.30 pm today.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigations and Enforcement chief assistant director Superintendent Bakri Zainal Abidin said the traffic volume is expected to increase in the evening with city dwellers returning from their hometowns after celebrating Aidiladha.
"Traffic flow is expected to increase in the evening and motorists are advised to plan their trips and get adequate rest," he told Bernama.
According to Bakri, policemen through the Jammed Squad unit will continue to monitor the movement of vehicles to help reduce traffic congestion.
He added traffic was reported slow-moving from Seberang Jaya to Perai, before entering the Juru Toll Plaza, and from Changkat Jering to Bukit Berapit following the increase in vehicle volume.
The traffic is also slow moving from Gurun to Sungai Petani (U); Sungai Petani (U) to Sungai Petani (S); Bertam to Sungai Dua; Juru to Bandar Cassia; Jawi to Bandar Baharu; Bukit Merah to Taiping (U); Kuala Kangsar to Menora; Jelapang to Simpang Pulai; Gopeng to Bidor; and Lembah Beringin to Bukit Tagar.
In addition, high traffic flow was reported at Kilometre (KM) 17.7 from Karak to West Bentong, West Bentong to KM59.7 towards the west, and KM51.8 to KM47.8 (westbound) from Lentang to Bukit Tinggi.
"Traffic is also slow moving from KM95.3 to KM93.6 at Lanchang to Karak westbound, and at KM90.8 in Lanchang up to Karak (westbound) before merging with Kuala Lumpur- Karak Highway," he said
