Traffic flow was reported to be smooth and under control along most major highways in the country as of 9 pm today even as many city folk decided to visit their hometowns and villages following the lifting of the interstate travel prohibition under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
A PLUS Malaysia Berhad spokesman, when contacted, said traffic flow was smooth on the North-South Expressway in both directions.
"There is an increase in the number of vehicles on the road but the situation is under control. Traffic slows down when there is rain or a crash," he said.
A spokesman of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said traffic flow was also smooth on the East Coast Expressway (LPT) 1 and 2.
"Traffic was moving slowly (at that time) only between Km34.7 and Km41.1 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, that is eastbound between Genting Sempah and Bukit Tinggi due to a stalled vehicle," he said.
