Three siblings, aged five to 10 years, were forced to undergo a harrowing ordeal since Oct last year when their mother took them to a 'bomoh' for traditional treatment.
The siblings who were treated every weekend by the bomoh, suffered burns on their bodies after the bomoh prodded them with burning incense.
Their father, a cook, discovered their plight after their five-year-old son complained of chest pains on March 10.
Similar burn marks were also found on the boy's brother, aged six, and their sister, 10.
The eldest son told him that their mother had taken them to a 'bomoh' in Bukit Lima for prayer rituals.
They were forced to kneel for hours holding a burning incense. They would be prodded with a lighted incense if they so much as move.
Sibu District Police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi said police had detained a 30-year-old woman this evening to help in investigation and were hunting for the 'bomoh' under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children's Act 2001.
