Tree wrests life of two policemen at Kampung Attap

Two policemen died when a tree fell on the police 'container' they were in, at Jalan Bellfield, Kampung Attap here today.

The victims in the 7 pm incident following heavy rain, have been identified as Constable Mohd Sharil Hisham Hashamdi, 25, and Corporal Dzulkhairi Ahmad, 48.

Mohd Sharil Hisham died at the scene while Dzulkhairi passed away while being sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zainol Samah said both victims were attached with the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters but had been assigned to the site, which also served as a store for police exhibits.

"Family members of the victims have been notified. The post mortem would be conducted tomorrow," he told reporters when met at the hospital's critical zone.

Zainol said Mohd Sharil Hisham was from Sabah while Dzulkhairi, from Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, a City Fire and Rescue spokesman said 28 personnel from the Sungai Besi and Hang Tuah stations were involved in the operation to extricate the victims from the container.
