Trio charged with Kajang boy's kidnapping

Three men were today charged in court with kidnapping a child at Sungai Chua on Oct 9.
The accused trio – Indonesian labourer Riduansyah Yahya, 32, lorry driver Mohd Saifulamry Jarkasy, 28, and businessman Siow Kek Keong, 45 – were charged at the Kajang Magistrate’s Court at 11am.
They allegedly committed the offence together at 9.26am at the side of Jalan Seroja next the house No. 40, Taman Setia Sungai Chua, here.
According to the facts of the case, the three accused, with a common intention, had illegally held and incarcerated a five-year-old boy with the intention of obtaining a RM300,000 ransom.
However, no plea was recorded by the trio today after the charges were read before Magistrate Abd Jalil Salam Muhamad.
Siow was represented by counsel Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent; Mohd Fadli Yakob represented Mohd Saifulamry while Riduansyah was unrepresented.
All of the accused were charged under Section 3(1) Kidnapping Act 1961 read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, the trio could face the death sentence or life imprisonment, or whipping if they are not sentenced to capital punishment.
Abd Jalil set Dec 21 for re-mention of the case.
Meanwhile, taxi driver Hanizan Mohamed Radzi, who reportedly rescued the child, was released by the court at 10.45am.
