KUALA LUMPUR:The Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf Foundation (TSMCG) is committed to stay focus on 'The Way Forward 2020' planning of charity activities for the upcoming years.
Its president Datuk Zainuddin Mohd Radzi said a series of discussions for the foundation plan has been held together with its founder and chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"TSMCG is currently organising a charity golf tournament, Founders Cup 2020, along with a workshop, TSMCG Way Forward 2020. The event runs from Oct 1 until 4 at a resort and a golf course in Desaru, Johor.
"Both events run simultaneously with the Founders Cup which will be held on the last day (Oct 3)," he said in a statement yesterday.
Established 18 years ago by Muhyiddin and a few prominent Malaysians who shared his vision of doing charity through the sport of golf, Zainuddin said the TSMCG has been involved in charity work from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic by giving aid and assistance to the poor and needy in the form of food and essential items.
“TSMCG also managed to supply and deliver respiratory machines to hospitals, food and aid to frontliners and the most effected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Zainuddin.
He said the foundation is actively running a dialysis centre here and will soon have other centres in Putrajaya and Pagoh.
Up to 2019, it has managed to collect about RM17 million and has channelled it to various charity organisations and individuals in Malaysia.
He explained that the Founders Cup and TSMCG The Way Forward were planned much earlier and the participation of players for the tournament has also been scaled down in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
During the prize giving ceremony today, 20 charity organisations received some of the proceeds of The Founders Cup 2020.
Among the organisations were Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Pelangi Johor Bahru, Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Terencat Akal Johor Bahru, Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Kurang Upaya Negeri Johor, JB Lions Renal Care Foundation, Persatuan Kebajikan Fei Xiang Johor Bahru, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Insan Istimewa Johor Bahru, Pusat Kebajikan Care Haven Bhd, Persatuan Kebajikan Prihatin Mersing and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE).
