Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah hari ini berangkat menunaikan solat sunat Aidilfitri di Masjid Negara di sini bersama lebih 14,000 jemaah bersempena sambutan 1 Syawal.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong dan Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah berangkat tiba di masjid itu pada kira-kira 8.30 pagi.
Seri Paduka Baginda berdua diiringi Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dan Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin serta isteri masing-masing Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor dan Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.
Turut hadir beberapa menteri Kabinet dan dif-dif kehormat serta perwakilan asing.
Tuanku Abdul Halim dan jemaah kemudian bertakbir raya sebelum menunaikan solat sunat Aidilfitri yang diimamkan oleh Imam Besar Masjid Negara Tan Sri Syaikh Ismail Muhammad manakala Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom bertindak sebagai khatib.
Sejurus selesai khutbah Aidilfitri, Tuanku Abdul Halim kemudian beramah mesra dengan jemaah yang tidak melepaskan peluang bersalaman dengan baginda.
Terdahulu, Seri Paduka Baginda berdua berkenan menerima menghadap Perdana Menteri dan Timbalan Perdana Menteri serta isteri masing-masing dan Anggota Jemaah Menteri bersempena Aidilfitri di Istana Negara.
Sementara itu, Jamil Khir ketika menyampaikan khutbah selepas solat sunat Aidilfitri yang bertajuk 'Idulfitri: Kembali Kepada Fitrah' mengingatkan para jemaah akan ujian yang dihadapi negara ketika ini iaitu tragedi pesawat Malaysia Airlines MH370 dan MH17.
Beliau berkata di sebalik kegembiraan sebahagian besar rakyat Malaysia meraikan Aidilfitri, anggota keluarga penumpang dan anak kapal kedua-dua pesawat menyambut ketibaan hari lebaran kali ini tanpa orang tersayang.
"Perlu diingatkan bahawa ada anak-anak yang tidak dapat bersalaman dengan bapa atau ibunya di pagi hari raya ini, ada isteri yang mungkin tidak dapat mencium tangan suaminya pada Aidilfitri ini," katanya.
Jamil Khir berkata atas dasar keprihatinan akibat tragedi berkenaan, kerajaan memutuskan untuk membatalkan acara rumah terbuka Aidilfitri yang sepatutnya berlangsung hari ini dan mengajak rakyat menyambut hari raya dalam kesederhanaan.
Katanya, Perdana Menteri sendiri turut melupakan seketika kegembiraan menyambut Aidilfitri dan akan berlepas ke Belanda Rabu ini bagi membincangkan perkara berkaitan pesawat MH17 yang terhempas di timur Ukraine pada 17 Julai lalu.
Dalam pada itu, beliau mengingatkan jemaah agar menginsafi betapa bertuahnya rakyat Malaysia yang dapat menyambut Ramadan dan Syawal berbanding umat Islam di negara lain, terutama Palestin.
"Ketika kita di Malaysia memakaikan pakaian baharu dan cantik untuk anak-anak kita, anak-anak di Palestin memakai pakaian yang berlumuran darah dan berlari ke sana ke sini mencari perlindungan.
"Ketika kita dapat makan makanan kegemaran kita setiap kali tibanya hari raya, mereka di sana berhempas-pulas mencari secebis makanan dan tiada rumah untuk menyambut Aidilfitri selepas dimusnahkan tentera Israel," katanya.
Justeru, Jamil Khir berkata bersempena hari yang mulia ini, jemaah perlu terus mendoakan perlindungan untuk rakyat Palestin dan meminta pertolongan Allah bagi penyelesaian tragedi MH370 dan MH17.
