Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Anina Saadudin and Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan filed suit against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at Kuala Lumpur High Court today.
Lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla had filed the suit on behalf of the three individuals.
This is the first time the former premier has taken Najib to court, claiming misuse of power and breach of duty in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the RM2.6 billion scandal.
Dr Mahathir had earlier this month signed the ‘Citizens Declaration’, calling for the resignation of Najib as PM.

Anina, the former Langkawi Wanita UMNO member whose membership was terminated last year, said Najib had interfered with the investigations on 1MDB and the RM2.6billion.
Last year, Anina had filed the suit against Najib and Ab. Rauf, among others, to reclaim a portion of the RM2.6 billion (US$650 million) donation that was allegedly deposited by the party president into his personal account.
She had filed a suit over her expulsion from UMNO but the High Court had struck it out.
