Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's presence at the Bersih 4 rally in the city is not a manifestation of rejecting Barisan Nasional (BN).
The former premier stressed that his attendance at the rally had nothing to do with supporting anyone or taking any sides, but merely to 'uphold the rule of law'.
"Last time, there wasn't a need to. We report to the police, the police take action, then the AG (Attorney-General) takes action," he told the media during his walkabout at Central Market today to observe the Bersih 4 rally in the city.
He also stressed that BN would still have the majority in the Dewan Rakyat even if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak loses power.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir admitted that Bersih 4 is the first ever street demonstration that he took part in throughout his 90 years of life.
Today was the second day that he and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali joined the Bersih 4 rally participants.
