Tun Mahathir's PPBM Citizens' Declaration unconstitutional
The former premier had sought an audience with the Agong at Istana Bukit Malut, Langkawi, last week.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah said he cannot interfere in the efforts carried out by the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
This is because the PPBM's Citizens' Declaration is unconstitutional.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who said this in a statement today said the King had taken into consideration the matter raised by Dr Mahathir.
However, he said the King said any action must go through the right channels, which is via the Parliament and general election for the people to make a decision.
The former premier had sought an audience with the Agong at Istana Anak Bukit, Alor Setar last week.
