A man who claimed to be a film director and is accused of molesting a 22-year-old woman has been detained by police.
The case unfolded on Dec 12 after the woman, an inspiring actress responded to a casting call made by the director.
Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief, ACP Khairi Ahrasa said the victim then met the 49-year-old director at a food court in Taman Connaught, Cheras.
Both of them then went to a house located not far from the food court.
“The victim was offered a role in a TV drama and she was given a script with a crying scene. After reading the script, the victim initially rejected the role,” said Khairi.
The woman was required to act out the crying scene and the director would act as a friend who would later console her.
She was also told to lie on his chest and there was suppose to be a kissing scene.
Khairi said that although the victim was initially reluctant to act out the scene, she was determined to be a star and she gave in and the suspect eventually kissed and molested her.
He also said there were no cameras on set and the victim was informed that she had to rehearse the scene before the actual recording.
The victim later realised that she had been cheated and lodged a police report on the same day.
Police later picked up the suspect in Jalan Hang Isap.
“The man works as property agent and we are checking whether he is a bogus drama director who had conned others,” Khairi said.
Police believe other women had also fallen prey to the same suspect and urged them to lodge a police report.
The suspect is being remanded by police for one week.
