Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today announced that the 10-subject limit for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students, an idea that was mooted by the Education ministry in 2010, will stay.
Following this, Astro Awani asked our twitter followers for their feedback on the matter.
Many of them agreed with the move and labelled it as appropriate.
Twitter user Redzanur Rahman said the move is appropriate as it is high time for quality students to be produced while Ahmad Fauzan simply said that it is a good idea.
There were also neutral views such as the view from Muhammad Aidil Idham Sharom, who said if it is a school polity then, the move is appropriate but if the individual wants to pursue more than ten subjects, then it should be allowed.
Meanwhile, others beg to differ. For example Admìnìstrator said the maximum number of subjects should be nine instead of 10.
Muhyiddin, who was attending a forum for 2,300 Islamic religious teachers (North Zone) at Universiti Sains Malaysia today, said the government's objective was for students to be able to focus more on the main subjects as well as to make it easier for teachers to guide them.
