KUALA LUMPUR:It was the first and the last time Muhammad Afeef Rafiqie, nine, and Arrian Nuh, six, followed their father, a trailer lorry driver, to work.

The two boys and their father Hafize Nizam Ali Supian, 30, were killed in an accident involving a trailer lorry driven by the latter, at the 10th kilometre, Jalan Malim Nawar-Kota Bharu (Gopeng) yesterday at about 10 pm.

According to the kids’ grandmother, Normah Khalid, 66, prior to the incident her daughter Shamshira Mohd Norizin, 31, and son in-law Hafize Nizam, with their three children came to Kampar from Langkap, Teluk Intan to have lunch at a restaurant here.

She said Shamshira with the three kids, including two-year-old Adeeb Hud, came in a car while Hafize Nizam drove the trailer lorry because he wanted to continue his working trip to Gopeng after eating.

However, Normah, who was met at the Kampar Hospital Forensic Unit, here, told reporters, that after lunch Muhammad Afeef Rafiqie and Arrian Nuh cried as they wanted to follow their father although they had never wanted to do so before this.

Upon receiving a call regarding the incident from Hafize Nizam’s friend at about 10.30 pm last night, the family rushed to the location to see the scene of the mishap themselves.

“I could not bear to look at (scene of the accident) for too long, my daughter was distraught and she was crying loudly and looking at the crushed trailer. Whatever it is, we accept and take this as a test,” she said, adding that Hafize Nizam was a good son-in-law who liked to help family members.

All the three deceased would be buried at the Kampung Chenderong Balai Muslim’s cemetery, Teluk Intan, this evening.
