Two brothers died after being electrocuted in a fire at a recycling shop in Jalan Bagan Lalang, Butterworth, Pulau Pinang on Monday night.
Both the victims, Koi Ang Leng, 37, and Koi Kok Leng, 35, who were also the owners of the factory, were found lying unconscious after being electrocuted while making a follow-up inspection at their store that had caught fire.
Operations Commander, Senior Officer Butterworth Fire and Rescue, Mohd Faizwan Che Ahmad said firefighters arrived at the scene after received a distress call at 9:30pm.
"An employee there told us that one of the victims had gone to the site to make inspections following the fire," Mohd Faizwan said.
"When the first victim fell due to shock, the employee then called the second victim for help,” he added.
Mohd Faizwan said initially the firemen had difficulties to remove the victims due to the flow of electricity in the floor area where they were found.
He said firefighters had sought help from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to release the victims' bodies using woods taken from the scene.
The bodies were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem while the cause of the incident is still being investigated.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said the case has been classified as sudden death.
