Two children among three killed in Ipoh road crash

Three people, including two children were killed, while two others were seriously injured when a Perodua Viva car they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a lorry at Km 25 Jalan Lumut-Ipoh, heading towards Ipoh, yesterday.
Those killed were the car driver, identified as Mohd Ramli Abdul Wahab, 27, six-year-old Nur Aleeya Maisara Muhamad Syakir, who was in the front passenger seat, and her five-year-old brother, Harith Danial.
Manjung deputy police chief DSP Ahmad Mat Isa said the crash occurred about 2.30pm.
The accident occurred when the right front tyre of the car burst, resulting in the driver to lose control of the wheel and caused the vehicle to skid and crash into the lorry which was parked by the road side," he said when contacted here.
He said the driver had left to buy a drink from a roadside stall nearby.
The injured were Zalikha Kamarulzaman, 26, and his brother, Mohamad Syarifuddin, 18. They have been sent to the Seri Manjung Hospital for treatment.
