Two foreign nationals nabbed for attempting to bribe police
The two suspects were arrested by police in suspicious circumstances after getting complaints from the public.
Police arrested two foreign nationals in two different locations near here for attempting to bribe police patrolling in Tampoi here.
Johor Baru North district police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said the first case involved the arrest of a Pakistani in Taman Universiti at 7.59pm yesterday while the second case involved a Bangladeshi who was arrested at 12.59pm, Saturday.
"The two suspects, in their 30s, were arrested while trying to bribe police who were on a crime prevention patrol in a police multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) around Tampoi .
"The Pakistani tried to offer a bribe amounting to RM200 while the second suspect offered a bribe amounting to RM90. Both men work as labourers and police investigations revealed that the suspects had each overstayed their visa," he said in a statement here.
He added that the two suspects were arrested by police in suspicious circumstances after getting complaints from the public.
Police also seized the RM290 cash used by the suspects and they were handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further action.
