Two friends charged for murder of woman and daughter

Two friends were charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with the killing of a woman and her daughter in Taman Puteri Wangsa near here last Wednesday.
The charge against R. Subramaniam and L. Uvaneswaran, both in their 20s, was read out to them before Magistrate Salina Omar report Bernama.
The two men, both unemployed, were charged with murdering M. Mariayee, 56, and her daughter, C. Durga Devi, 17, at No 51, Jalan Beladau 40, Taman Puteri Wangsa, between 10 am and 11 am last Sept 21.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 340 of the same law, which provided the death sentence upon conviction.
However, no plea was recorded.
Salina then set Nov 1 for mention.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nur Baiduri Mustakim, while both the accused were unrepresented. -- BERNAMA
