Two investigation papers handed over to PP regarding JPJ vehicle incident

Police have recently handed over two completed investigation papers to the Public Prosecutor regarding an accident involving a Seri Manjung Road Transport Department (JPJ) vehicle in Sitiawan on January 11.
Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said the two papers involved investigations on the accident under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Penal Code for damaging and torching the vehicle.
"Police also propose prosecution against several individuals believed to be responsible for the incident," he told reporters here today.
He said the police investigation was carried out on all aspects including recording statements from three JPJ officers and a number of witnesses, besides different versions of police reports from those involved in the accident.
He said police were also awaiting orders from the Public Prosecutor for action should there be a need for further investigation on the papers.
Mohd Dahlan also said they cannot reveal results of the investigation for fear of conflicting facts.
Six suspects were detained to help with investigations but were then released on police bail, he said.
