Two killed in car crash in Jalan Tun Perak
A driver and a Filipino female passenger were killed while a Nigerian male passenger was seriously injured when the taxi they were travelling in collided with an out-of-control car in Jalan Tun Perak near the Jamek Mosque LRT station here today.
The crash occurred when a Perodua Myvi coming from Jalan Raja Chulan and heading towards the Merdeka Square skidded and went to the opposite direction and collided with the oncoming taxi at 4.20am, said Kuala Lumpur traffic chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor.
Taxi driver R.Sivaraman, 35, and female passenger Mechelle Perona, 25, died at the scene.
Sivaraman was trapped in his seat while Perona was thrown of the taxi onto the road due to the impact of the crash.
A male passenger identified as Jaeson, 34, from Nigeria suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Rusli said the Perodua Myvi droved away from the scene.
The police know the identity of the 27-year-old male driver and are tracking him down, he added.
