Two killed as lorry skids into ravine

Two men died when a lorry they were in was believed to have skidded and crashed into a ravine at Kilometre 28, Jalan Persisiran Samalaju-Bintulu, at about 10pm yesterday.

According to a spokesman from the state Fire and Rescue Department, the victims were identified as Andrew Marupoh Rawing, 21, and Matehew Jangkang, 25.

“During the 10pm incident, both victims who were in the lorry are confirmed to have been trapped and died at the scene of the incident.

“As many as eight officers from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department were rushed to the scene of the incident. They had managed to remove the victims and the operation ended at around 1am,” said the spokesman.
