Two Malaysians were arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint after the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers found two bundles of heroin weighing about 950 grammes hidden in the rear seat cavity of a Malaysian-registered motorcycle.
In an operation on Thursday, CNB said the suspects (both men), a 26-year-old rider and his 37-year-old pillion, were travelling on the motorcycle into Singapore when they were stopped for checks.
CNB said the heroin seized in this operation was enough to sustain the addiction of about 480 abusers for a week. Investigations are on-going.
The arrest of the two Malaysians at Woodlands Checkpoint was part of an extensive island-wide operation conducted from Monday to Friday where CNB officers arrested another 101 suspected drug offenders.
Drugs worth more than S$85,000 were seized, including about 1kg of heroin, 18 grams of ‘Ice’, 9 Erimin-5 tablets, 25 Ecstasy tablets, 290 grams of cannabis and a small amount of ketamine.
Officers from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) supported the operation.
