Two men charged with murder of friend

A college student and an electrician were charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with the murder of their friend last month.
V. Veeliam, 20, and R. Yogendran, 23, were charged with murdering an unemployed man, S. Araaven, 19, by hitting him with a helmet and a piece of cable, in front of Jati 2 Apartment, Subang Mewah, USJ 1, Subang Jaya, here at 1.25am on Dec 20.
Veeliam and Yogendran merely nodded when the charge was read out before magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir, but no plea was recorded.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides for the death sentence upon conviction.
Zaki Asyraf set April 3 for mention, pending the post-mortem report on the victim.
Deputy public prosecutor Fazeedah Faik appeared for the prosecution. Yogendran was represented by lawyer S. Gabriel while Veeliam was unrepresented. - BERNAMA
