Two men masquerade as GrabCar passengers to rob driver
The suspects, both aged 39, have been remanded for seven days until Monday for further investigations.
Two men impersonating as passengers hired a GrabCar taxi before trying to rob the driver in Taman Sri Jelok, Kajang near here early Tuesday.
Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said in the incident at about 1am, the 27-year-old victim took both men in Ampang before sending them to a location in Kajang.
According to him, upon arriving at the location, both men attempted to rob the victim.
"In the struggle between the two men and the driver, the victim was injured on the face and head.
"Both suspects were, however, captured by passers-by not far from the scene," he said when contacted.
He said the suspects, both aged 39, were remanded for seven days until Monday for further investigations.
"Both suspects had previous criminal records," he said and added that the case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt while robbing.
Othman said the victim was sent to Kajang Hospital for treatment.
