Two more areas in T'ganu flooded, victims increase to 330

The number of flood evacuees in Terengganu rose to 330 this morning from 144 yesterday evening.

According to the state government's flood portal, dua more districts, namely Marang and Setiu, experienced flooding, hence the increase in the number of evacuees.

In Marang, 64 people from 16 families were evacuated and in Setiu, 94 people from 33 families.

The evacuees in Marang are now placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Gading while in Setiu, at the Sungai Pinang and Sungai Bari village surau.

In Dungun, the number of evacuees continued to rise although the Tanjung Pagar community centre, as the evacuation centre, was closed at 6pm after all the evacuees were allowed to return home.

The number of evacuees in Dungun district was 172 as at 8am today. They are from Pulau Serai (49 people), Batu Tiong (43), Seberang Pintasan (51) and Tok Kah (29).

Heavy rain with strong wind is reported to continue in the state, causing water levels in most of the main rivers to rise.
