Two more arrested in connection with Morais murder case

Police have arrested two men in connection with their involvement in the murder of Attorney-General Chambers’ Appellate and Trial Division deputy chief, Anthony Kevin Morais.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the suspects, who are in their 40s worked as a contractor in Tanjung Malim and a biomedical technician were arrested at a car wash located opposite the Jinjang food court, here at 3.10pm on Thursday.

“A remand application has been made and the magistrates has allowed both the suspects to be remanded for seven days beginning today until September 24.

“Apart from that, forensic checks have been made at a cafe located behind BF Malaysia Auto Spray & Service Sdn Bhd service centre in Subang Jaya, Selangor. Several items have been seized in relation to the murder case,” added Zainuddin in a statement today.

Zainuddin explained that an investigation team together with the Malaysian Civil Defence Department was also looking for evidence at a river located in Kuala Selangor, today.

However, as of 6pm on Friday, police have yet to find any evidence there.

“What has been thrown into the river is evidence which we believe linked to the case which is being investigated,” said Zainuddin.

Kevin, 55, went missing on September 4 while driving to his office in Putrajaya from his condominium in Menara Duta here in a Proton Perdana car bearing registration number WA6264Q.

His body was found stuffed in a concrete-filled drum in Subang Jaya near here on Sept 16.
