State police chief Commisioner M. Kumar confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at 2.45 am and involved a masked intruder armed with a pistol and a machete.
The suspect was reported to have been shot dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the police seized a Walther P99 pistol and a HK MP5 rifle from the suspect.
