Two students were killed after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a Toyota Hilux after the driver lost control of the four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle while trying to avoid cattle's carcass at KM55 of Jalan Temerloh-Bandar Jengka here Wednesday.
Maran district police chief DSP Mazlan Hassan said the students of SMK Jengka Pusat 1, Zharfan Najwan Zainal Abidin and Muhamad Daniel Iman Muhamad Faizal, both aged 17, died at the scene in the 6.45am incident.
"The accident was believed to have occurred when the (driver of the) Toyota Hilux steered to the right upon seeing the carcass before colliding with the victims on the opposite lane," he told reporters here yesterday.
Mazlan said the bodies were sent to the Jengka Hospital for post mortem, while the 4WD driver escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, he said two men, including a septuagenarian who was returning home after the Subuh prayer, were killed after their motorcycles collided with one another at Jalan Besar Felda Jengka 15 here.
Mazlan said the incident occurred at 6.50am when Ab Rahman Mat Noh, 73, was riding along the opposite lane before crashing head-on into the incoming motorcycle ridden by 24-year old Mohd Hirmab Zulkapli. -- Bernama
