The Seremban Sessions Court today acquitted two Tamil school teachers charged in connection with the leaked question papers for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendar (UPSR) examination last September.

Judge Jagjit Singh Bant Singh delivered the verdict today.

L. Subarau @ Kamalanathan 36, from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Ladang Batang Benar and Murugan Palanisamy, 34, from SJK Ladang Lenggeng had claimed trial on Nov 5 of being in possession of official secrets.

The teachers were charged under Section 8 (1) of the Official Secret Act 1972 which provided an imprisonment of one to seven years, if found guilty.

In September, the Examinations Board announced the UPSR examination for Science papers 018, 028 and 038 had been postponed to Sept 30 due to its questions being revealed on the Internet.

Following the announcement of the leaks, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister II Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh apologised to all UPSR candidates in the country for the leaks and the delay in their examinations.

Police have recorded statements from 30 individuals to facilitate investigation on the leak in the examination papers of this year's UPSR.
