KANGAR: Two men, both Thai citizens, were charged in the Sessions Court here today, with entering Malaysia illegally.
Judge Musyiri Pet sentenced one of them, Dah Wae Hatama, to two years’ jail and three strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Dah Wae, represented by lawyer Syed Muhammad Anwar Syed Lokman Hakim, was charged with committing the offence at Batu 20 Jalan Padang Besar at 8.26 am last Nov 24.
He was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest.
Another accused, Mahyee Ma-Ae, who was charged with committing a similar offence at about 8 am on the same day at a house in Batu 22 Jalan Padang Besar, however, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.
The court then set Feb 1 for mention and submission of documents.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Izham Ali prosecuted.
