Two water treatment plants still not operational as of 12.30 pm - Air Selangor

Air Selangor in a statement said the pollution was still detected at the Sungai Batang Benar in Negeri Sembilan measured at 18 TON (Threshold Odour Number) while the readings at the intakes of Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi plants were at 9 and 8 TON respectively.

"Due to the stop-work operation, Air Selangor has not been able to produce 602 million litres of water per day to be distributed to consumers at 274 areas. The water supply disruption is expected to take a long time to fully recover,” it said.

Since 8 am this morning, Air Selangor has mobilised 64 water tankers to critical premises such as affected schools and residential areas.

A total of 14 static water tanks, seven water filling stations, nine local service centres (PKS) and 10 public water taps had been provided to the affected users.

The statement added that Air Selangor would provide updates on the unscheduled water supply disruption from time to time through all mediums including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and www.airselangor.com website.

Air Selangor also urged consumers to take alternative water supply at public taps, with priority given to critical facilities like hospitals and dialysis centres.

Consumers can also obtain information and get clean water supply at local service centres provided.

Yesterday, Air Selangor in a statement said that a total of 309,687 account holders in 274 areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang would experience unscheduled water supply disruptions after the operations of two plants were suspended due to pollution at Sungai Semenyih.
