A foreigner who was reported to have slapped an 'imam' and tried to lead the Friday prayers at the National Mosque here has been remanded for two-weeks, beginning today.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah said the 31-year-old man, from Kashmir, India entered the country on a social visit pass on June 18, which had since expired.
He said the suspect was investigated for overstaying and causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
"His passport was surrendered by his housemate yesterday and we will conduct a check with the immigration department to determine if it is genuine," he said.
