Typhoons: MMEA advises Sabah maritime community to practise safety

KOTA KINABALU:The maritime community in Sabah has been advised to prioritise safety in carrying out activities at sea against the dangers posed by typhoons Saudel and Molave.
The Sabah and Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in a statement said the typhoons were from southwest of Manila, the Philippines with an average speed of 139 km/h.
The Molave typhoon was reported to be 703 km northwest of Kudat, Sabah which triggered strong winds and rough seas with waves reaching up to 3.5 metres in Sabah and West Labuan, read the statement.
The maritime community is advised to take safety precautions and to be alert to weather conditions issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
