Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) denies that its students were under the influence of alcohol and drugs as claimed in the social media through two video recordings during a program by its Melaka campus.
UiTM Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ir Dr Abdul Rahman Omar said the annual program organised by the students' association had obtained permission from the Art and Design Faculty and was fully supervised by the faculty's lecturers and the UiTM Melaka Auxiliary Police.
"UiTM wishes to clarify that the allegation is not true and was done with malice by irresponsible groups, and the context of the video recording was also distorted.
"The administrator of the website indiscriminately linked the joy demonstrated by the students with immoral activities without showing concrete proof on the existence of alcohol, drugs or any other prohibited materials," he said in a statement, here today.
He added that this was the sixth time such a program had been organised which, among other things, aimed to give an opportunity to the students to demonstrate their talent and creativity.
