Datuk Khairuddin Abu Hassan apologises to his wife, Umie Aida for dragging the actress into the issue involving their house which was 'auctioned off' for some RM2 million last Saturday.
“I’d like to apologise to Umie for dragging her into this issue. She has been very supportive throughout the ordeal,” said the UMNO Batu Kawan Division vice-chairman at a media conference before lodging a report with the Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) today.
Khairuddin had earlier denied that he was informed nor given any notice or writ about the auction.
A newspaper reported an anonymous woman from Damansara as saying that she has bought Khairuddin’s house after no one bid for it during the auction.
However, Khairuddin said, it was just a misunderstanding and admitted there was already a buyer who is willing to buy the property at RM5.8 million.
"I was only informed of the auction on January 13 when it actually took place two days earlier," he said adding that he has hired a lawyer to challenge the decision of the auction.
"The house is for sale, but not at such a low auction price," he said.
In a separate issue, Khairuddin urged MACC to investigate the entire Board of Directors of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) who had given the approval to a number of business transactions which he said were not transparent.
