KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO does not practice 'barbaric' politics, hatred and revenge, said its president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) do not practice the attitude of persecuting and victimising its opponents just because they have different political views and want to stay in power.
In a statement posted on his Facebook, Zahid explained that UMNO and BN are competing with the opposition through ideology, arguments and facts.
"UMNO and BN compete with ideology, with arguments and facts. With service, for the sake of what is best for the people.
"Therefore, there is no need to worry about the full rise of UMNO and BN. There is no need to be afraid of our own shadows.
"Even if it is destined that there are any matters related to the law, it is solely based on the supremacy of the Constitution," he said.
Zahid also said that UMNO and BN and its members are very professional and 'gentleman'.
"We pray only for the best," he added.
However, Zahid, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk, did not mention which party he meant in the statement.
