The decision whether UMNO deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will make a winding-up speech at the general assembly of the party will only be known after the UMNO Supreme Council (MT) special meeting on Dec 9.
UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, however, reiterated that the winding-up speech by UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the last day of the UMNO general assembly was sufficient.
"Nevertheless, whatever decision will be made at the MT special meeting at night after the conclusion of the meetings of the party wings," he said at a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre, here today.
Commenting on the security level, he said he was confident there would be no untoward incident throughout the proceedings of the general assembly.
Tengku Adnan, who is also the Federal Territory Minister, said the UMNO members were mature in line with the age of the party which would exceed 70 years next year.
He said the party headquarters had also held discussions with the police and the security unit of the PWTC to ensure that the proceedings at the general assembly would run smoothly.
Tengku Adnan also advised the debaters to maintain harmony by not hurting the feelings of UMNO members and the other races.
He said that based on the screening of the motions at the divisional level, 90 per cent had raised problems in the economic field, religion and education.
The UMNO general assembly from Dec 8 to 12 will be participated by 5,738 delegates comprising 2,762 delegates for the main general assembly, 993 for the Wanita Umno meeting, 992 (Youth) and 991 (Puteri).
Various side events are also being held throughout the assembly including the Entrepreneurship Symposium, oratory competition for the president's cup, and the launching of the UMNO sports logo.
The UMNO general assembly this time will also see the presidential briefing being held at night on Dec 8 and not in the afternoon as was previously done.
Meanwile, Tengku Adnan pointed out that he had sent a letter to former Gopeng UMNO head Datuk Hamidah Osman regarding her expulsion from the party.
