Despite unable to speak, tears of joy of a bedridden UMNO veteran was enough to express his gratitude at receiving a visit from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak here today.

Uyub Abdullah, 89, who is paralysed on the right side of his body, was trying to interact with Najib, who visited him at his home in Felcra Kampung Sri Makmur this morning.

Najib, who spent over 15 minutes there, also presented a personal donation to ease the burden of Uyub's family.

According to Uyub's daughter Zalazelah, 40, her father admired the leadership of Najib and felt honoured when informed that the Pekan Member of Parliament would visit him today.

"Father really admires the Prime Minister, so much so, that a poster of him (Najib) is hung in front of our house while previously he is also an active UMNO member," she said when met by reporters here.

According to Zalazelah, her father who had served in the British army for five years from 1951, suffered from stroke since last July, causing him to be bedridden.

She said her father was unable to fend for himself and had to depend on her and her siblings for his daily care.

Zalazelah also expressed her appreciation to Najib for taking the time to visit her father even though he was busy.
