Unemployed claims trial to attempted murder of deaf mute

M. Lavindran is charged with attempting to murder S. Rohini, 58, at Flat Sri Kelantan, Sentul at 10.30am last Sept 5.
An unemployed man pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to a charge of attempting to murder a deaf and mute woman.
M. Lavindran, 18, claimed trial to the charge after it was read out to him before Judge Kunasundary Marimuthu.
Lavindran is charged with attempting to murder S. Rohini, 58, at Flat Sri Kelantan, Sentul here at 10.30am last Sept 5.
Rohini is currently hospitalised due to serious injuries allegedly inflicted by Lavindran.
The charge under Section 307 of the Penal Code provides for a jail sentence of up to 20 years and a fine, if convicted.
The court allowed Lavindran bail of RM10,000 with one surety.
He was represented by counsel Gary Reginald Gomez, while deputy public prosecutor Liyana Zawani Mohd Radzi prosecuted.
The court set Sept 30 for mention.
In the same court, a tractor driver claimed trial to a charge of gang robbery.
P. Shangkar, 31, pleaded not guilty to stealing a Redmi Note 2 worth RM4,000 and RM2,000 in cash belonging to Khairul Anuar Amir Hassan, 58, in front of the Syariah Court, Jalan Duta, Sentul here at 5.10am on April 13 this year.
He was charged, with another person still at large, under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine.
No bail was allowed and the court set Sept 30 for mention. -- Bernama
