Unemployed mechanic faces 5 sexual charges

An unemployed mechanic was charged in three separate Sessions Court here on Tuesday with five sexual offences involving four women last month. In the first court, Malek Ridzuan Isroll, 27, from Batu Gajah claimed trial before Judge Noor Hayati Mat to a charge of attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl at the roadside near Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Club in Batu Gajah at 9.50 pm last Sept 11. In the second court, he claimed trial before Judge Madinah Harullah to a charge of attempting to rape a 30-year-old woman near a bird park in Kampung Pisang, Batu Gajah at 9 am last Sept 28. He also claimed trial in the same court to sodomising a 13-year-old girl at a duck breeding farm at Taman Alam Kinta in Kota Bharu, Gopeng at 10 am last Sept 21. In the third court, the accused claimed trial before Judge Yushan Lutfi Mohamed to two charges of raping and attempting to sodomise a 17-year-old girl at a forest near Jalan Changkat Mendaling, Batu Gajah at 9.25 pm last Sept 25. Malek Ridzuan was disallowed bail after the prosecution told the court that he was a serial rapist based on police investigations. According to the prosecution, the accused would also be facing four other unrelated charges at the Magistrate's Courts in Batu Gajah and Kampar. The accused was not represented at the proceedings while the prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Yasser Mohd Nasri, Siti Nora Sharif, and Nurul Hafizah Kamaludin respectively. The respective courts simultaneously fixed Nov 15 for re mention.
