Union urge govt interference in MAS-staff crisis
The staff resignation comprised aircraft technicians, ground engineering staff, flight attendants and pilots, the report said.
The Malaysia Airlines Employees Union (Maseu) has requested the government to solve an internal crisis between Malaysian Airlines (MAS) employees and management.
According to a report in The Star yesterday, this was because the unresolved internal problem has drove 300 of its staff to resign within the past two years.
Maseu executive secretary Mohd Jabarullah Abdul Kadir reportedly said he wanted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to help them.
It was reported that MAS' net loss had widened to RM1.17bil last year from RM432.59mil the year before although sales grew 9.92% to RM15.12bil versus RM13.76bil, which was higher than the RM14.76bil estimated by analysts.
It was also reported that the resignation had caused a loss of about RM30mil in training them during that period as they had quit after being fully trained by MAS.
Meanwhile, the daily also reported that Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi had agreed to to become a mediator in the internal crisis.
Ab Aziz had also urged MAS to communicate directly with its employees or through the union to deal with the internal problem.
