A night market trader became the latest shooting victim in Kelantan as he was on his way home from Kampung Pengkalan Petah when he was shot by an unknown assailant on a motorbike on Thursday.
Kelantan CID deputy chief ACP Lai Yong Heng said the victim, Alias Yusof, 58, who took a few hits on the head and stomach about 8.45 pm, died on the spot.
“He was shot about 250 metres from the night market site while he was on a motorbike with his six-year-old son. His son was unharmed,” he told reporters at the scene of the shooting.
Meanwhile, the victim’s wife, Jawiah Che Mat, 41, said she was nearby in a van at the time and heard the shots.
“I saw my husband under the motorbike and our son next to him, looking pale. My husband was still breathing when I moved the motorbike but died a few moments later,” said a distraught Jawiah, who sells drinks at the same place.
