KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional wins the Melaka state election.
Based on unofficial results, the coalition secured enough seats to form the new state government. As at 9.15pm, BN leads in 21 out of the 28 seats in the state assembly. That would give BN two-thirds majority.
Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali is set to return as Chief Minister. He won Lendu comfortably with 3,104-vote majority.
The Melaka election was held following the dissolution of the state assembly on Oct 4 after four assemblymen withdrew their support for Sulaiman.
