Effective this year, government servants born in Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan and serving in peninsular Malaysia are allowed to take one day unrecorded leave for the Kaamatan and Gawai festivals.
The Prime Minister's Office, in a statement today, said the matter had the agreement of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The statement said it was hoped that the leave would enable these civil servants to celebrate the festivals with their families and the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
Kaamatan falls on May 30 and 31 and Gawai, June 1 and 2.
