Over 700,000 households in Gombak, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Hulu Langat and here are affected by the unscheduled water disruptions due to low water levels at water treatment plants in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS) in a statement today said the disruptions were due to the production of treated water from the treatment plants could not meet the high demand of water from the areas.
SYABAS said the water supply to the areas would take some time to be restored, depending on the production of the treatment plants.
Nevertheless, SYABAS would continue deploying its water tanker lorries to distribute treated water to the affected areas.
Meanwhile, SYABAS' General Manager of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department, Priscilla Alfred advised those who are living in unaffected areas to use water wisely as it can also be distributed to affected areas.
When contacted by Astro AWANI earlier today, she said SYABAS is currently updating all the lists as there are many more affected areas.
"We can only assist in terms of providing water tankers and our ability to assist is limited due to the shortage of water," said Alfred.
