Update: Haze hits hazardous level in Muar

The haze situation continues to haunt Malaysians especially the people of Johor and Melaka as several areas in the state saw drastic increase in the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading.
The worst area affected by the haze is Muar, which recorded a 157 at 11am yesterday.
Today, the figure sky-rocketed to 337 as at 7am, falling into the hazardous category. At 11am, the figure crept up to 383.
Meanwhile, Kota Tinggi recorded a reading of 232, which is categorised as very unhealthy.
Four cities fell into the unhealthy category with Pasir Gudang recording an API of 199, Larkin Lama 181, Bandaraya Melaka 137 and Bukit Rambai 119.
A total of 76 per cent of major cities in Malaysia recorded moderate API readings.
A total of 15 per cent of other cities recorded good API readings including Alor Setar, Langkawi, Kangar and Sandakan.
